Better flexibility is one of those goals that’s always on the to-do list. Even if it improves, dancers always want more, and there are tons of unsafe practices that dancers use in trying to achieve it.

The flexibility workshop will answer questions like:
  • Are oversplits safe?
  • Will foot stretchers help?
  • Why does my flexibility seem to be worse some days?
  • Is it better to stretch with a partner?

In the dance world, if something feels tight, stretch it… right??? That’s what I thought too. In an effort to improve my flexibility, I used to shove my feet under the couch and ask friends to push or pull me. My mom didn’t dance so she didn’t pretend to understand “stretching like a dancer.” She didn’t know that my stretching habits could be causing more harm than good – the exact opposite of what she wanted for her growing child.

Dancers…
Are you frustrated not seeing improvement in your flexibility when you stretch ALL THE TIME?
What if you could improve your flexibility in just a few minutes… and learn how to keep it?

Parents…
Are you heartbroken watching your dancer work so hard to improve their flexibility but they end up in tears because nothing changes?
How would it feel to celebrate with your dancer as they make progress towards achieving their flexibility goals – knowing that they’re doing it SAFELY?

The goal of the workshop is to take you from frustrated and sad to independent and proud.

Dancers will walk away with an understanding of safe stretching practices, long-term effects of unsafe practices, and safe alternatives to traditional stretching that improve flexibility immediately and long-term.

Parents/guardians of minor-age dancers are encouraged to be present for the entire workshop and are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the last 15 minutes of the workshop for the Q&A section. Please note – unfortunately chairs will not be available, but there will be plenty of standing/sitting space around the edges of the room.

Hi there! I am Dr. Meghan Gearhart and I own Head2Toe Physical Therapy, Dance Medicine & Performance.

I have the privilege of providing youth and adolescent dancers the specialized support they deserve while recovering from injuries and improving their performance - while providing answers and direction for dance parents trying to navigate the delicate balance between their child's happiness and long-term health.

I am so excited to offer the Dancer Wellness Workshop Series this summer! It's a great opportunity for your dancer to learn how to level up their performance without overloading themselves with another dance class, and gives you the opportunity to connect with someone who can answer those burning questions that you've had all year but weren't sure who to ask.

I can't wait to work with you and your dancer ❤
