Improving Leg Extensions Workshop

Hygge FIT - 2128 Remount Rd, Charlotte, NC 28208

We’ve all watched those dancers with seemingly effortless leg extensions up to their ears and thought “Wow… Do they have some secret to making that happen that I don’t know about?”

The leg extensions workshop will answer questions like:
  • What’s the secret to getting my leg higher?
  • Why does my thigh keep gripping during leg extensions?
  • How can I keep my thigh up as I extend my knee?
  • My hip pops when lowering my leg – is that normal?

As a dancer, I always felt more flexible than my leg extensions showed and I never understood why. So, I tried stretching more. My hips snap, crackle, popped but it didn’t hurt – so I ignored it and it BECAME my normal. Little did I know the answers for improving leg height, fixing the popping, and preventing future hip pain were all the same.

Dancers…
Do you feel discouraged that your leg isn’t higher despite spending a ton of time working on leg extensions?
What if your leg could be 20 degrees higher just by changing one thing and 40 degrees higher changing two?

Parents…
Are you concerned with how the noisy hip popping might affect your dancer down the road?
How would it feel to know your dancer is training hard without BEING hard on their growing body?

The goal of the workshop is to take you from frustrated and worried to successful and at peace.

Dancers will walk away with a better understanding of how the hip joint works and how to improve leg extension height using good habits that keep them feeling strong and injury-free.

Parents/guardians of minor-age dancers are encouraged to be present for the entire workshop and are STRONGLY encouraged to attend the last 15 minutes of the workshop for the Q&A section. Please note – unfortunately chairs will not be available, but there will be plenty of standing/sitting space around the edges of the room.

Hi there! I am Dr. Meghan Gearhart and I own Head2Toe Physical Therapy, Dance Medicine & Performance.

I have the privilege of providing youth and adolescent dancers the specialized support they deserve while recovering from injuries and improving their performance - while providing answers and direction for dance parents trying to navigate the delicate balance between their child's happiness and long-term health.

I am so excited to offer the Dancer Wellness Workshop Series this summer! It's a great opportunity for your dancer to learn how to level up their performance without overloading themselves with another dance class, and gives you the opportunity to connect with someone who can answer those burning questions that you've had all year but weren't sure who to ask.

I can't wait to work with you and your dancer ❤
